چکیده

Abstract. This paper presents WHETGEO and its 1D deployment: a new physically based model simulating the water energy budgets in soil column. The purpose of this contribution is twofold. First, we discuss mathematical numerical issues involved solving Richardson–Richards equation, conventionally known as Richards heat equation heterogeneous soils. In particular, for (R2) take advantage nested Newton–Casulli–Zanolli (NCZ) algorithm that ensures convergence solution any condition. Second, starting from modelling needs, present design software intended to be first building block customizable land-surface integrated with process-based hydrology. developed an open-source code, adopting object-oriented paradigm generic programming approach order improve usability expandability. fully into GEOframe/OMS3 system, allowing use many ancillary tools it provides. Finally, deployment WHETGEO, WHETGEO-1D, which has been tested against available analytical solutions presented Appendix.

Numerical exact controllability of the 1D heat equation: dual algorithms

This work addresses the numerical approximation of distributed null controls (with small support) for the 1D heat equation, with Dirichlet boundary conditions: the goal is to compute a control that drives the solution from a prescribed initial state at t = 0 to zero at t = T . The earlier contribution by Carthel, Glowinski and Lions [3] considers boundary controls and exhibits numerical instabi...

non-cohesive sediment transport capacity in detention rockfill using a combined 1d model and dimensional analysis

pure rockfill dams have been found specific attention in watershed management and flood control, recently. in addition to hydraulic specific features, one of the important advantages of these structures is their consistency with nature and environment. normally, floods are accompanied with high sediment loads which may enter the body of dam. when flow through dam body governed by hydraulic grad...

Estimation of zeolite application effect on solute transport parameters at different soils using HYDRUS-1D model

ABSTRACT-Application of models for simulation of solute and pollutants transport in soil can reduce time and costs for remediation process. HYDRUS-1D model was developed to simulate the one–dimensional flow of soil water, heat, solute and viruses in variably saturated–unsaturated porous media. The objective of this investigation is to determine the solute transport parameters in disturbed soil ...

1D energy transport in a strongly scattering laboratory model.

Radiative transfer (RT) theory is often invoked to describe energy propagation in strongly scattering media. Fitting RT to measured wave field intensities is rather different at late times, when the transport is diffusive, than at intermediate times (around one extinction mean free time), when ballistic and diffusive behavior coexist. While there are many examples of late-time RT fits, we descr...

Scale-Space Features in 1D Omnidirectional Images

We define a family of interest operators for extracting features from one-dimensional omnidirectional images, and explore the utility of such features for navigation and localization of a mobile robot equipped with an omnidirectional camera. A 1D circular image, formed by averaging the scanlines of a cylindrical panorama, provides a compact representation of the robot’s surroundings. Feature de...
